The black opaline dial carries Cartier’s signature Roman numerals, a railway-track minute scale, and blued steel sword hands, while the crown is set with a faceted blue sapphire cabochon, a Santos hallmark since its earliest editions. Inside is the manual-winding Caliber 430P, a slim, purpose-built rectangular movement developed for the Santos-Dumont’s compact form, offering roughly 38 hours of power reserve. True to Cartier’s QuickSwitch system, the watch is fitted with an interchangeable black alligator strap secured by a folding buckle, allowing the strap to be changed without tools. The visible exposed screws on the bezel, a design element original to the 1904 Santos, and the stepped, form-fitting case remain unchanged from Louis Cartier’s earliest sketches for aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont.
