The Cartier Santos Galbee in the Large size, reference W20011C4, is a two-tone stainless steel and 18k yellow gold watch that follows the square case of the Santos, the design Cartier created in 1904 for the aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont. The case has a slightly curved, or galbee, profile and an 18k yellow gold bezel secured by eight visible screws, which are repeated on the integrated bracelet links. The off-white dial is printed with black Roman numerals, a railroad minute track and a date window at 6 o’clock, and blued steel hands with a blued seconds hand move across it. An octagonal steel crown set with a blue sapphire cabochon sits on the right side. The watch is powered by a quartz movement and is worn on a steel and gold bracelet with a folding clasp. Reaching back to the early days of aviation, the Santos is one of the oldest men’s wristwatch designs, and the steel and gold combination is a classic Cartier pairing that gives this Large model a refined, balanced look.
