The Rolex Oysterquartz Datejust, reference 17013, is a two-tone stainless steel and 18k yellow gold watch with a quartz movement, a design that came out of Rolex’s work on electronic timekeeping in the 1970s. The case has the angular, faceted shape of the Oysterquartz line, with a fluted 18k yellow gold bezel and a yellow gold crown. The blue dial carries gold baton markers, gold hands, a gold seconds hand and a date window at 3 o’clock under a cyclops lens, with the Oysterquartz Datejust signature and the words Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified printed in gold. The watch is worn on an integrated two-tone Oysterquartz bracelet with a steel and gold finish. The Rolex Caliber 5035 quartz movement keeps time without the need for winding. The Oysterquartz was made in small numbers over about two decades and is now a collector’s piece, and the blue dial paired with two-tone metal gives this reference a classic Rolex look from that period.
