Description

The Otsuka Lotec No. 7.5 is a stainless steel watch from the Tokyo independent brand Otsuka Lotec that replaces a traditional dial with a brushed steel face pierced by three round windows. The upper left window shows the hour as a large printed numeral, the upper right window shows a curved minute scale with a pointer, and a third window at the bottom opens onto part of the movement. The name Otsuka Lotec is engraved in a curved line that connects the windows. The case is brushed stainless steel with a knurled crown at 3 o’clock, and the watch is fitted to a black strap with a polished steel buckle. The layout turns the face of the watch into a sculptural arrangement of apertures instead of a flat dial, and the shape of the surface is the main design feature. Otsuka Lotec builds watches in small numbers, and the No. 7.5 will appeal to collectors of independent Japanese watchmaking and unconventional time displays.
