The Apollo 8 connection becomes especially interesting when you look closely at the movement beneath this Speedmaster’s skeletonized dial. Laser-ablated lunar relief covers the blackened main plate and bridges, with the dial side representing the Moon as seen from Earth and the caseback showing its far side. Yellow chronograph hands stand out against the dark display, but the tiny rocket sweeping across the nine o’clock subdial brings an unexpected touch of charm. The 44.25mm case is made from black ceramic and houses the manual-winding Co-Axial Master Chronometer Caliber 3869, certified by METAS for resistance to magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss. On the caseback, the engraving “WE’LL SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE” recalls Jim Lovell’s words as Apollo 8 disappeared behind the Moon.
