Lunar terrain occupies the very core of this 44.25 mm black ceramic Speedmaster. It employs the manual caliber 1869, where laser ablation carves the moon’s surface directly onto the blackened bridges and mainplate. Luminous markers and yellow hands provide immediate contrast.
The exhibition caseback reveals the “far side” of the lunar surface as seen by the Apollo 8 crew. This side is heavily cratered, carved using micro-lasers for realistic ridges. Included in the engravings on the caseback is the text “WE’LL SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE.”
