Description
Introduced in 2008, the Rolex Sea-Dweller Deepsea ref. 116660 was built for depths far beyond those of most dive watches, with a water-resistance rating of 3,900 metres (12,800 feet). Its 44mm case introduced Rolex’s patented Ringlock System, which uses a 5.5mm-thick sapphire crystal, a nitrogen-enriched steel compression ring and a Grade 5 titanium case back to withstand the immense pressure found at extreme depths. The watch, driven by the proven caliber 3135 movement, was also one of the first Rolex models to feature Chromalight, which gives the hands and markers a bright blue glow in the dark. A Glidelock extension system on the Oyster bracelet allows the fit to be adjusted without removing links.
