Description

In 2011, Patek Philippe unveiled the Aquanaut Travel Time — a practical dual-time version of its sporty, water-ready watch. The watch, which was the first to introduce a complication to the Aquanaut collection, was initially available in stainless steel; the more luxurious rose gold Aquanaut Travel Time 5164R-001 joined the lineup a few years later in 2016. 

The signature rounded octagonal 40.8mm case is crafted from 18k rose gold, finished with the familiar mix of polished and satin-brushed surfaces. To match the warmth of the gold exterior, the embossed dial is rendered in brown, which darkens to black towards the edges. The baton-style hands and Arabic numeral hour markers are also fashioned from rose gold, finished with luminous material for in-the-dark legibility. 

The self-winding Caliber 324 S C FUS powers the watch, featuring two hour hands — one solid, one skeletonized — to track both local and home time, respectively. A pair of day/night apertures for each time zone sits at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock, while a date subdial at 6 o’clock is synchronized with the local time. The movement operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and provides a power reserve of 35 to 45 hours. In true Patek fashion, the finely finished movement is visible through the sapphire crystal caseback.

Completing the watch is the famed Patek Philippe tropical composite strap in brown, textured to match the dial and secured with a rose gold Aquanaut fold-over clasp. This unworn Patek Philippe Aquanaut Travel Time 5164R-001 comes complete with the manufacturer’s box and papers.
