Description

When it was introduced in 2007 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Aquanaut, the reference 5167A-001 brought modernity to the lineup with its larger 40.8mm case size. Despite its bigger dimensions, the characteristic octagonal case and bezel remained, as did the mix of brushed and polished surfaces. 

Patek opted to go with black for the familiar embossed dial of the stainless steel Aquanaut “extra-large,” complete with the date window at 3 o’clock, luminous Arabic numerals for the hour markers, and lumed baton hands at the center.  

Inside the slender 8.1mm-thick case is the self-winding Caliber 324 S C, a slim automatic movement with a power reserve of 35 to 45 hours and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz). As always, the movement can be admired through the sapphire exhibition caseback, which reveals fine finishing and the 21k gold rotor.

To complement the dial, the tropical black composite strap is also rendered in black, echoing the dial’s embossed pattern, fitted with a case-matched stainless steel Aquanaut fold-over clasp. This unworn Aquanaut 5167A-001 in steel, which remains in the 2025 Patek Philippe catalog, comes complete with the manufacturer’s box and papers.
