The Rolex GMT-Master II 16710 sits in a part of the GMT-Master timeline that many collectors continue to gravitate toward. It came before Rolex shifted fully into ceramic bezels and heavier six-digit cases, so the overall watch carries a lighter, less rigid presence on the wrist. The aluminum bezel inserts age differently, too. Small scratches, fading, and wear marks become part of the watch instead of standing out against it.
At 40mm, it keeps the slimmer case proportions and softer edges that defined this period of GMT-Master II production, giving the watch an easier, flatter fit on the wrist. This example is signed “Swiss Made” at 6 o’clock, indicating a later-production Super-LumiNova dial rather than the earlier tritium or transitional LumiNova variants. Underneath sits the Caliber 3185, built around the independently adjustable local hour hand that became central to the GMT-Master II experience.
