More than three decades later, the first Lange 1 still looks current. That’s less a reflection of changing tastes than of how thoroughly A. Lange & Söhne got the design right the first time. This original reference presents that familiar layout in a 38.5mm yellow gold case with a solid silver dial.
The hour and minute sub-dial is joined by an instantaneous outsize date, small seconds, and an AUF/AB power reserve indicator, each occupying its own dedicated space across the dial. Visible through the sapphire caseback is the hand-wound twin-barrel Caliber L901.0, distinguished by its untreated German silver three-quarter plate and hand-engraved balance cock. A pusher at 10 o’clock advances the date, and the watch is paired with a leather strap.
