The Rolex Submariner Date, reference 116610LN, is a 40 mm stainless steel dive watch and one of the best known sports watches in the world. The black dial has round and bar markers filled with luminous material, a triangle at 12 o’clock and Mercedes-style hands, and a date window with a cyclops lens at 3 o’clock. The unidirectional rotating bezel has a black Cerachrom ceramic insert that resists scratches and fading, and it is used to time dives. The screw-down crown keeps the case watertight to 300 meters. The Oyster bracelet is made of brushed links and closes with the Oysterlock clasp, which has the Glidelock extension system for fine adjustment. Inside, the self-winding caliber 3135 is a Superlative Chronometer movement with a power reserve of about 48 hours. The Submariner first appeared in 1953, and this generation was the first to use a ceramic bezel with a larger, wider lug design.
