Discontinued since 2019, the ref. 116710BLNR remains one of the references that brought a new generation of collectors into the GMT-Master II. Collectors soon borrowed a name from the world of comic books, calling it the “Batman” for its blue and black bezel. The nickname endured because it suited the watch, but the bezel itself was the real story. It was the first time Rolex produced a two-color Cerachrom insert from a single piece of ceramic.
Its 40mm steel case and bracelet give the watch the solid character of its era. The Caliber 3186 completes the package with an independently adjustable local hour hand and a blue Parachrom hairspring, qualities that have kept the 116710BLNR firmly on collectors’ shortlists long after its discontinuation.
