Staying true to the expedition watch Rolex first issued to cave explorers in 1971, the Explorer II 226570 continues the line’s purpose-built approach to exploration. It features a fixed 24-hour bezel in brushed steel, framing the black dial with lumed plots, the Mercedes handset, and the signature bright orange GMT hand. This arrow-tipped orange hand tracks a second time reference against the bezel’s engraved numerals, maintaining orientation between day and night. The 42mm Oystersteel case holds a solid tool-watch stance, matched to the Oyster bracelet with Oysterlock clasp. Power comes from the self-winding caliber 3285, equipped with Rolex’s independent jumping hour for quick local time adjustment.
