Roman Sharf History
I was born on May 9, 1975, in the Soviet Union. At 13, my life took a dramatic turn when my father decided to leave the failing Soviet Union in pursuit of the American Dream, making me a refugee. We made brief stops in Austria and Italy before settling in a tiny 400 sq. ft. apartment in Brooklyn, New York. My first job was delivering newspapers, and as I grew up, I worked as a dishwasher, construction worker, and bagel truck driver. However, my love for my country led me to join the US Army at 18. After the army, I pursued electrical engineering at Penn State University, only to discover my passion for computer science.
I entered the banking industry with Fleet, which underwent several acquisitions. Eventually, I climbed the ranks to become a Vice President at Deutsche Bank, overseeing local payment systems handling about $40 billion a month. However, the stability of the banking sector wavered after 9/11, leading to significant layoffs, including 10% of Deutsche Bank’s employees. Facing the industry’s uncertainties, I decided to follow my passion for watches and my dream of independence, founding Luxury Bazaar.
Founder of Luxury Bazaar
I started Luxury Bazaar as a one-man show from my basement, and now it’s a growing company, with over 30 employees, a 25,000 sq. ft. facility, and annual sales exceeding $130 million. Traveling the world, I’ve made a significant name for myself in the luxury watch circle. My YouTube channel, known for its direct, no-holds-barred approach to watches, has amassed over 400,000 followers and continues to grow.
