Only Watch 2024 is Back, Complete with a New One-of-a-Kind Patek Philippe Watch
After postponing the 2023 edition due to concerns about financial transparency, the Only Watch 2024 charity auction is back on the calendar, scheduled for May 10, 2024. Of the over 60 original entries, 47 remain for the rescheduled event with a few notable departures. For instance, Audemars Piguet is still not participating in the event after withdrawing its black ceramic Royal Oak donation amid questions about the charity’s governance last year. Tudor is also a no-show, withdrawing its Prince Chronograph One Prototype in solid yellow gold. On the other hand, Patek Philippe will be there but not with the same watch it offered in 2023.

For Only Watch 2024, Patek Philippe has announced it will contribute a Grande and Petite Sonnerie, Minute Repeater, Reference 6301A-010, differentiated from the already-existing ref. 6301P with its steel case and hand-guilloched blue/green enamel dial. Patek Philippe Grande and Petite Sonnerie, Minute Repeater 6301A-010 For Only Watch 2024
The reference 6301 isn’t new to the Patek Philippe catalog; the Patek Philippe 6301P debuted in 2020 as the brand’s first stand-alone grand and small striking timepiece, with a minute repeater. While Patek has most certainly featured these striking complications, they were combined with other complications. The reference 6301 is the first to only include these (along with the time, of course.)
The Patek Philippe 6301P watch that’s part of the company’s regular collection is fashioned from platinum and is paired with a black enamel dial with Breguet numerals and a black alligator leather strap.
Conversely, the special Only Watch 2024 edition includes a stainless steel case and a blue-green Grand Feu enamel dial with a hand-guilloched swirling pattern. The dial is also home to 12 baguette-cut diamond hour markers. If we zoom in closer on the dial, we also see an “Only One” inscription, spread across the two power reserve indicators (one of the movement and one for the strikework) at 3 and 9 o’clock. Related is the “Only Watch 2024” inscription on the sapphire caseback.
Powering the Patek Philippe Grand Complication 6301A-010 is the manual-winding Caliber GS 36-750 PS IRM, visible from the back of the watch. The grand and petite sonnerie function chimes the time as it passes (unless silent mode is activated) while the minute repeater strikes the time when the pusher on the crown is pushed.
The pre-sale estimate of the Patek Philippe Grande and Petite Sonnerie, Minute Repeater ref. 6301A-010 is CHF 1.5 to 1.8 million (approximately US $1.65 to 1.97 million). The current record holder for the most expensive watch ever sold is the Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime Ref. 6300A-010, which sold at Only Watch 2019 for CHF 31 million (approximately $31.2 million).
