The F.P. Journe Chronomètre Bleu is a hand-wound watch in a 39 mm case made of tantalum, a rare, dense and corrosion-resistant metal with a soft gray color that differs from steel or platinum. Founder François-Paul Journe introduced the model as a modern take on the precise, simple dress watch. The blue dial has Arabic numerals and a small seconds sub-dial, which give it a clean and balanced face. The case has a fine finish, a slim bezel and straight lugs. The watch is worn on a navy alligator strap. Inside, the in-house caliber 1304 has plates and bridges made of 18k rose gold, and it can be seen through the transparent caseback. A power reserve of about 56 hours means the watch will keep running over a weekend.
