A Look at Carbon Tudor Watches

The first two carbon Tudor watches appeared in 2023 as part of a partnership with the Alinghi Red Bull Racing sailing team, sporting flat black cases described as “carbon composite.” Since then, Tudor has released some “Cycling Edition” variants of the Pelagos FXD Chrono, also in carbon composite, as well as multiple carbon-fiber-cased versions of the Black Bay Chrono. Here’s our guide to all of them.

Pelagos FXD Alinghi Red Bull Racing

The Tudor Pelagos FXD (meaning “fixed” because it has fixed-bar lugs) first debuted in a titanium case in November 2021, sporting a single-pass fabric strap with a Velcro closure. A carbon composite version came in June 2023, with “Alinghi Red Bull Racing” written proudly across the top 1/3 of the rehaut.

The dark, slightly-greyish blue dial and strap match the main color of Alinghi Red Bull Racing (now known simply as “Tudor Team Alinghi“). The red strap end, seconds hand, and “Pelagos” text complete the look. The black aluminum 60-minute bezel insert, as on the original FXD, counts down from 60 rather than up to it. Unlike other Tudor Pelagos models, time-only FXD’s have no date. The MT5602 inside is a chronometer-certified in-house movement.

The time-only Tudor Pelagos FXD Alinghi Red Bull Racing (ref. 25707KN) sold well initially, but it can be found for about $3,500 (well under list price) pre-owned today. Although its midcase is made of carbon composite, it’s worth noting that its crown and bezel are titanium, and its caseback is stainless steel.

The Tudor Pelagos FXD Chrono Alinghi Red Bull Racing (ref. 25807KN) debuted in 2023 alongside the three-hand version. It was the first-ever chronograph version of the Pelagos. Like the crown and bezel, the pushers are made of titanium. The case, again made of carbon composite with a steel caseback, grew to 43mm.

Powering the watch is Tudor Calibre MT5813, based on the excellent Breitling B01 chronograph movement. The two-register layout and 6 o’clock date give the dial a nice balanced look, while the red outlines around the subdials give the watch a little more pop than the non-chronograph Alinghi Red Bull FXD.

Both versions of the Pelagos FXD Alinghi Red Bull Racing were among the Tudor watches discontinued in 2026. The chronograph can be found in good condition for $4,500 today.

Pelagos FXD Chrono Cycling Edition

The first of the Tudor Pro Cycling-themed watches was a PVD-coated steel Black Bay Chrono exclusively given to the team’s riders in 2022. In 2024, the first Tudor Pro Cycling Pelagos FXD Chrono debuted as part of the standard catalog. Like the Red Bull FXD Chrono, it has a 43mm carbon composite case housing a caliber MT5813 movement. The bezel insert is also carbon composite.

The bezel, crown, pushers and caseback are all black titanium. The bezel is fixed, with a 0-60 scale. The tachymeter is snailed (meaning it spirals multiple times) around the prominent slanted rehaut, showing numbers as low as 20 because it’s focused on the speed of bicycles, not race cars. Red dial accents match the red stripe down the middle of the single-pass fabric strap.

The pink-accented ref. 25827KN has a 43mm carbon composite case like all Tudor Cycling Pelagos FXD Chrono models.

In 2025, two 300-piece limited editions were released with different accent colors. The Tudor Pelagos FXD Chrono Cycling Edition Pink celebrated Tudor Pro Cycling’s invitation to the Giro d’Italia (“Tour of Italy”), where they placed 7th of 23 that year.

Tudor Black Bay Chrono Carbon 25

The Tudor Black Bay Chrono “Carbon 25,” introduced during the 2025 Miami Grand Prix, is meant to evoke the 2025 livery of the Visa Cash App Racing Bulls Formula One team. It was the first-ever non-gold Tudor with a list price over $7,500. Note that the Black Bay Carbon models are made of carbon fiber, rather than carbon composite.

Carbon fiber is technically a type of carbon composite, but in this context “carbon composite” is just chopped carbon mixed with resin and pressed in a mold. Carbon fiber is machined from a block of woven carbon fabric in a resin matrix, which is more costly to manufacture. And as you can see above, the carbon fiber results in a more visibly textured surface.

The entire dial on the Tudor Black Bay Chrono Carbon 25 is also carbon fiber, although everything except the subdials is painted. The VCARB-hue blue text is a nice touch. The bezel is carbon fiber as well, while the crown, pushers and caseback are all PVD-coated titanium.

Like the standard Black Bay Chrono, case diameter is 42mm and height is 14.4mm. Because it was limited to 2,025 pieces, expect to pay around $10,000 for a good example of a Tudor Black Bay Chrono Carbon 25 today.

Tudor Black Bay Chrono Carbon 25 “Tortoise”

The “Tortoise Card,” a debit card linked to Cash App, debuted in 2025. To promote it, the Visa Cash App Racing Bulls (VCARB) Formula 1 team decorated their cars with a tortoise motif for one race. They also gave their two drivers that year, Liam Lawson and Isack Hadjar, each a special matching Tudor Black Bay Chrono Carbon 25 “Tortoise” Edition. I can’t imagine either racer is itching to part with his anytime soon.

Tudor Black Bay Chrono Carbon 26

The Tudor Black Bay Chrono Carbon 26 is just like the Carbon 25 but with colors designed to match VCARB’s 2026 livery.

The gold date and subdial markings are nice details. Limited to 2,026 pieces, the Carbon 26 lists for $8,625 but sells secondhand for a few thousand more.

That covers all the carbon Tudor watches made so far. We’ll keep you posted if/when Tudor releases more. Carbon, along with ceramic, continues to be a case material that Tudor’s more conservative sister company Rolex has never used.
