Master Chronometer Certified Tudor Black Bay 58 GMT

The first Tudor dive watch to offer water resistance up to 200 meters was ref. 7924, released in 1958. That model inspired the eponymous Black Bay 58 and its signature 39mm case. Now, for the first time in Tudor history, the collection is available as a GMT model with a Master Chronometer certified movement, 24-hour bi-directional burgundy and black bezel (we’ll call it Tudor Coke), and a 4-hand dial.

“New Tudor is getting closer and closer in design to its mother brand Rolex as well as in price, perhaps getting closer to becoming an equal which in my opinion is well deserved.”

Roman Sharf, CEO of Luxury Bazaar

The “mid-size” GMT caliber MT5450-U carries the distinction “Master Chronometer” in gilt text on the dial, signifying that it has first been certified by COSC (Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute) and then by METAS (Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology.)  Watches with the prestigious double certification have met various parameters testing their water resistance, anti-magnetism, precision, and power reserve. The Tudor movement is resistant to magnetic fields of up to 15,000 gauss and provides 65 hours of power reserve as certified by METAS.

Tudor has released two variations of the new GMT model for 2024, one with a metal bracelet and one on a rubber strap. Both are outfitted with the celebrated “T-Fit” extension clasp. The two-tone bezel features a black and burgundy insert to distinguish between day and night hours and 24-hour graduations in a vintage-inspired gilt font. Of course, the watch also sports the BB58’s signature rivet-style links on the metal bracelet model, a domed sapphire crystal, and a crown without modern guards as a nod to its mid-century muse.

Tudor Black Bay 58 18K

For Watches and Wonders 2024, Tudor also gave us the first gold bracelet Black Bay 58 dive watch, following in the footsteps of the gold and leather model released a few years ago. Now, the satin-finish 18k yellow gold case is paired with a solid link bracelet with a “T-Fit” clasp and rivet-less links. While there is a market for the highly anticipated solid gold model, the 2024 retail asking price is nearly double that of the previous model and might be a bit steep for the Tudor brand. Still, it’s a striking watch nonetheless, featuring the same green dial and aluminum bezel as its gold and leather predecessor.

The solid gold Black Bay 58 doesn’t boast the prestigious title of a Master Chronometer like its GMT counterpart. Still, it does feature the COSC-rated in-house caliber MT5400 automatic movement with a slightly longer 70-hour power reserve. We can see the movement through the sapphire crystal open case back – a nice touch we’ve seen on many of the collection’s precious metal models in the past.

Master Chronometer Certified Monochrome Black Bay

Tudor has released a new edition of the Black Bay in all-black monochrome without a single “gilt” design element. It is suspiciously similar to the stainless steel Rolex Submariner but with its own vintage-inspired DNA and modern Tudor upgrades, such as a Master Chronometer movement and newer bracelets outfitted with the T-Fit clasp. Still, if you’re searching for an affordable alternative to Rolex that also happens to offer METAS levels of anti-magnetism, the new Tudor watches fit the bill.

The new monochrome Black Bay retains its customary 41mm stainless steel case, 200m depth rating, unidirectional 60-minute bezel, sapphire crystal, and a domed black dial. Bracelet options now include a rubber strap and 5-link stainless steel bracelet, as well as the familiar three-link riveted-style stainless steel bracelet. At 21mm, its lug width is 1mm smaller than the previous 79230N.

New Blue Dial Clair de Rose

Tudor’s contemporary jewelry watch collection received a new dial color in the brand’s signature blue. The dynamic watch face has a mesmerizing, fluted design in relief and is decorated with either only Roman numeral hour markers or a combination of diamonds and Roman numerals.

The collection, which is only available in stainless steel and relies solely on mechanical movements, was remastered in 2017, resulting in the bevy of case sizes available to the collection today, including 26mm, 30mm, and 34mm, and now with either blue or opaline dials. The 2024 Tudor watches sport a deep blue dial color to match the collection’s trademark blue spinel cabochon and a silky “rice grain” link bracelet.

Tudor Pelagos FXD GMT

A new variation of the Tudor Pelagos FXD joined the lineup in October of 2024. While the FXD collection, released in 2021 with fixed spring bars, was initially inspired by the French Navy Marine Nationale, this newer model sets its sights on the skies in a partnership with the Marine Nationale’s Aéronautique Navale division. It swaps the 60-minute diver’s bezel from previous models for one with 24-hour graduations and features a 4th, centrally-mounted hand. This design set allows the wearer to read “Zulu time” in addition to the wearer’s local time and a third time zone.

The new model sports a khaki green NATO strap in the same style and color as the French Navy’s flight uniforms, complete with a loop decorated with the Aéronautique Navale logo. Other features include a grade 2 titanium case, a black ceramic bezel, and a matching black dial with color-coded hands – the orange arrow hand glows green while the other hands glow blue.
