Jaeger-LeCoultre’s newest 2026 offerings are here. From the stunning La Vallée des Merveilles collection, with its colorful enamel dials, to the impossibly sparkly 101 Secrets and the newest Master Hybris Artistica Calibre 945 with a mesmerizing, celestial dial, there’s a lot to unpack. Let’s dive right into all the 2026 JLC releases.
Duometre Grande Complication A Grande Sonnerie
Jaeger-LeCoultre’s innovative, 15-complication movement, Calibre 182, debuted in 2009 inside the Hybris Mechanica A Grande Sonnerie, making it the brand’s very first wristwatch with a chiming Grande Complication. Among its most ground-breaking features was the rare “Westminster-style” chime playing the famous melody commonly associated with London’s Big Ben. Coupled with a Petite Sonnerie and Minute Repeater, retrograde perpetual calendar, flying tourbillon, and multiple power reserve indicators, it was JLC’s most complex watch. It has now been reimagined with a new aesthetic, better chime quality, and refinements to the movement via the single-piece edition 2026 Duometre Grande Complication A Grande Sonnerie ref. Q603H480 in pink gold.
First, it’s important to clarify what “Duometre ” is, which is a concept JLC developed in 2007 to accommodate the extra energy required by a watch with massive capability. It has two barrels, each with its own independent gear train, but they are still a part of the same movement with a single regulating organ. One barrel supplies energy for the time and perpetual calendar, while the other supplies energy to the chiming mechanisms.
With the newer variation of the calibre 182, JLC has improved the chiming mechanisms, which can impressively play four different notes to create several different melodies. The movement also notably boasts four gongs and hammers, compared to other sonnerie movements with just two gongs. On the new release, the gongs have been reshaped and their fixing and tuning refined. Furthermore, the inner case body and case back bezel are now made from titanium, resulting in a more beautiful, pleasant chime. JLC also added a new selector mechanism to the movement to ensure other modes are disabled before another is used, preventing damage to the chime mechanism. Each is indicated at 6 o’clock. “M” represents time-setting, “G” Grande Sonnerie, “P” Petite Sonnerie, and “S” for Silent/Minute Repeater.
Jaeger-LeCoultre also revamped the dial, giving it a more open-worked aesthetic and increasing the separate dial displaying hours, minutes, and calendar functions by 30%. A retrograde date arcs across the left side of the case between 7 and 11 o’clock, while the Duometre’s double power reserve indicators are open-worked to match the rest of the dial. The opening at 12 displays the leap year, while the opening at 6 displays the previously mentioned chiming mode indicator. The flying tourbillon is visible via the transparent case back.
Remarkably, the Calibre 182 boasts 1,300 components but still fits inside a robust 45mm pink gold case. An impressive feat, all things considered. Lastly, the case is paired with a black alligator leather strap and a patented fine-adjustment mechanism.

Master Hybris Artistica Calibre 945
JLC has released several variations of the Master Hybris Artistica Calibre 945 over the past several years, each powered by the same innovative movement and each with a celestial dial that is seemingly more remarkable than the last. Now, for 2026, a new white-gold variation is joining the fold, this time with a dynamic blue multi-level grisaille enamel dial and limited to just 5 watches.
The Calibre 945, originally released in 2010, delivers a wealth of knowledge, including a mesmerizing star chart with constellations as seen from Jaeger-LeCoultre’s home in the Vallée de Joux, a minute repeater with a series of different gongs for hours, quarters, and minutes, and a flying Cosmotourbillon to indicate sidereal time, which, for those who are unfamiliar, is essentially a way to tell the time using Earth’s rotation as it corresponds to fixed stars in the sky instead of the Sun.
JLC masterfully represents the night sky on the dial by building it in layers. First, a dark blue disc marks the months and tourbillon seconds. It is opaline and finished with translucent lacquer. Next is a delicately domed dial for the star chart and constellations, illustrated using grisaille enamel over a gold dial. The brand first used this enameling technique in 2022, although it dates back even further to the 16th century. With grisaille enamel, the brand can capture a dramatic shadow, or chiaroscuro, effect by applying different layers of blue enamel and firing them individually. The constellations are then hand-painted over it using Blanc de Limoges white enamel.
The dial also features what JLC calls a “Cosmotourbillon,” a tourbillon with added sidereal time. On the Calibre 945, the “flying” 60-second tourbillon circles the dial, counterclockwise, once per sidereal day, which takes 23 hours, 56 minutes, and 4 seconds to complete. It moves in correlation with the sky-chart to help the wearer track, in real time, the constellations in the night sky.
The Calibre 945 and its accompanying dial are housed within a 45 mm x 16.05 mm white gold case made of more than 80 different components. Broad lug bevels, a convex bezel, and dynamic finishes add to the watch’s dramatic aesthetic. What’s more, the minute-repeater slide tapers to fit the case. Furthermore, it has no buttons. The crown controls all functions.

High Jewelry 101 Secrets Watch
Jaeger-LeCoultre released the Calibre 101 in 1929, making it one of the oldest movements to stay in continuous production. It also holds the distinction of being the world’s smallest rectangular manual-winding mechanical movement, a title it earned by employing JLC’s Duoplan concept, introduced a few years earlier in 1925, which sets the escapement on a separate plane from the barrel and cogs. The flat crown to wind the movement is placed on the case back. At around just 1 gram, it is impossibly small, even by watchmaking standards a century ago, when sophisticated CNC machinery and other technologies weren’t yet available. Now, this fascinating movement, in its 5th generation, adorns a new, limited-edition 101 Secrets watch set with over 1,000 diamonds and gemstones and is produced in just 3 pieces.
The original 101 movement had just 74 parts. The movement JLC employs today still has the same architecture and measurements (14mm long x 4.8mm wide x 3.4mm thick), but now uses 98 parts. According to JLC, it takes around 40 hours to assemble each one, and only a few watchmakers are still around to complete the task. As such, only a few dozen 101 watches are made annually.
Why the big secret? Women have worn wristwatches for much longer than men, and even then, they often disguised them as jewelry. The idea was that important and influential women didn’t need to check the time, so when they did wear a watch, it often had a hidden dial and doubled as fine jewelry. The new Jaeger-LeCoultre 101 Secrets watch falls under that same category. Rows of pink sapphires open to reveal a tiny, hidden dial.
The new JLC 101 watch features a lovely pink gold double rivière bracelet decorated with 124 claw-set pink sapphires in shades ranging from deep cyclamen to a soft blush hue. The brand uses 10 different stone sizes, totaling approximately 16.39 carats. From there, two rows of pink stones flank a central double row of grain-set diamonds. Grain-set sapphires and diamonds then adorn the sides of the case, with the diamonds continuing down the side of the bracelet. Sapphires open to reveal a Mother-of-Pearl dial surrounded by a pink gold and grain-set diamond bezel. In total, the new watch is glittering with 904 brilliant-cut diamonds weighing approximately 13.26 carats. The Manufacture estimates it takes around 163 hours for the Métiers Rares™ atelier to set the stones.
A tiny button is hidden at 6 o’clock and, when held down, part of the bracelet opens to reveal the dial. When you release the button, the sapphires close back into place, hiding the dial once again. Another hidden mechanism secures the clasp.

Four New Limited Edition Reverso Tribute Enamel “Turner Series” Watches
For the past decade or so, Venice has been home to the Homo Faber Biennale every two years. The event was co-founded in 2016 by the non-profit organization Michelangelo Foundation For Creativity & Craftsmanship and Richemont chairman Johann Rupert, and it celebrates in grand fashion the world’s most talented artisans. To coincide with this year’s installment, An Island of Light, JLC released four limited edition Reverso Tribute Enamel “Turner Series” watches, each featuring an impossibly tiny recreation of English Romantic landscape painter J.M.W. Turner’s paintings of La Serenissima.
For those unfamiliar, La Serenissima translates in Italian to “most serene” and is the nickname for the region now known as Venice. It was there, in the 19th century, that J.M.W. Turner found the inspiration for the miniature paintings on JLC’s newest offerings, which have now been reimagined by the brand’s Métiers Rares™ atelier.
Each of the four watches is furnished in white gold, with a different hand-guilloché and Grand Feu enamel dial. The back of the dial on each of the four models features a series of J.M.W. Turner paintings the size of postage stamps, requiring more than 80 hours to recreate and several layers of individually fired enamel. Clouds float above the water, first painted as part of the original image, then topped with layers of clear enamel and more painted clouds to create dimension. The shimmering water employs paillonnage using silver leaf and enamel.
The Movement: The new Reverso Tribute Enamel Turner series is powered by the caliber 822, a go-to engine for JLC’s time-only Reverso for many years now. It’s a hand-wound movement developed specifically for the Reverso with a slim 3mm profile and a 42-hour power reserve.
Venice, the Dogana and San Giorgio Maggiore illustrates the bustling daily life of Venetians, with the Punta Della Dogana customs house and San Giorgio Maggiore church in the background. The island of San Giorgio Maggiore is also the location of the Homo Faber Biennale, making this painting a fitting choice. The dial is green to match the water on the case back and features a new soleil croisé motif made up of 180 engraved lines and layers of enamel.
Venice, from the Porch of Madonna della Salute, which currently resides in the New York City Metropolitan Museum of Art, depicts the surrounding palaces and their reflections, which effortlessly blend into the canal. This model also sports a green dial to match the canal but is decorated with a rice-grain/barleycorn guilloché motif.
Bridge of Sighs, Ducal Palace & Custom House, Venice was Turner’s first oil painting of Venice and originally depicted artist Giovanni Antonio Canaletto. However, he was unfortunately cropped out to fit the Reverso’s tiny canvas. In it, the smudged reflections in the water give the illusion that the buildings are floating above the lagoon. This time, JLC echoed the cerulean sky on the reverse dial, which features a dynamic basketweave guilloché and translucent blue Grand Feu enamel.
Venice, the Bridge of Sighs depicts the bridge in Venice connecting the Doge’s Palace to the New Prison. The bridge was named so by Lord Byron after the sigh one would make during the last few moments of freedom before being imprisoned. Here, the lavender in the sky is mirrored on the wavy guilloché and Grand Feu enamel dial.
Each of the limited-edition Reverso Tribute Enamel Turner Series watches is limited to just 10 pieces.

New 40mm Polaris Date
For summer 2026, JLC added a smaller, thinner variant of the Polaris Date to the current production lineup. Right now, the collection houses about a dozen 42mm models, some with a simple date at 3 and others with a bit more functionality, such as a bi-compax chronograph and a perpetual calendar. Now, collectors also have their choice of a slightly more approachable 40mm model with a thinner 12.9mm profile. For comparison, the 42mm Polaris Date is 13.92mm thick.
Outwardly, the new Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Date 40mm is very similar to its 42mm counterpart. It has the same caliber 899, with automatic winding and a 70-hour power reserve. It’s waterproof to 200 meters, and an inner rotating bezel surrounds the dial, accessible by an additional crown on the right side of the case. It also keeps the same remarkable blue lacquered gradient dial, with an opaline bezel finish, a grained texture on the ring under the hour markers, and a sunray texture at the center framed by a thin snailed ring.
However, keen-eyed collectors will likely notice that the Jaeger-LeCoultre logo has moved from its old spot directly under the 12-hour marker to a position further down by the hands. Additionally, JLC removed the “Automatic” distinction entirely from the dial. It’s nice to see JLC make thoughtful upgrades to the dial while adding a bit more size variety to the current-production lineup.

New Reverso Classic Watches
Watch tastes were much different back when the Reverso debuted in 1931. It was more about smaller, more classically elegant designs than anything else back then. Of course, many brands have since evolved to incorporate larger, more modern offerings into their portfolios, including Jaeger-LeCoultre. With the newer Reverso Classic watches, JLC aims to bring one of its most emblematic collections back to its classic 1930s form, with slimmer, more refined proportions.
Here, 4 different Reverso Classic models have been given new case sizes, updated movements, and newer design elements. The result is a series of watches with a slimmer and more refined fit. Let’s break down all the new novelties.
Movement Upgrades: JLC upgraded the calibers 846 (Reverso Classic Small Monoface) and 844 (Reverso Classic Small Duetto). A silicon escapement improves anti-magnetism and efficiency, and the power reserves have been beefed up from 38 hours to 50 hours.
Reverso Classic Small Monoface
JLC released two versions of the Classic Small Monoface, including one in steel and one in 18k pink gold. The precious metal model is available only with a taupe leather strap, while collectors can choose either a blue leather strap or a matching 5-row metal bracelet for the steel model. Both options have an applied “JL” logo on the dial rather than painted and a guilloche sunray texture. In true Monoface fashion, the reverse side is left blank.

Reverso Classic Small Duetto
On the “Duetto,” which is Italian for “Duet,” the front and back dials have two different aesthetics. 3 different versions join the new Classic Small Duetto, one in 18k pink gold and two in steel. Previously, the Duetto only featured diamond gadroons on the reverse dial. The new Classic collection now features a new “double set” model in steel with diamond gadroons on both sides.
JLC also made a few upgrades to the dial. There are now tone-on-tone hour markers to match each model’s respective case and an applied “JL” logo. On the reverse dial, there would typically be markers for 12 and 6 inside the center circle. Now, it’s plain. Steel models come with either a blue alligator strap or a matching 5-row steel bracelet. The pink gold model comes with an alligator leather strap or a pink gold bracelet to match the case. If you choose the gold bracelet, it also comes with an additional leather strap.

Reverso Tribute Duoface Small Seconds
The Duoface was introduced in 1994 and features a reverse dial for a second time zone. This year, a smaller medium-sized model is joining the lineup with a new blue-grey dial for the reverse side and dimensions that more closely mirror the original 1990s model. For now, it will only come in steel and is paired with an interchangeable Casa Fagliano black calfskin and grey canvas strap.

Jaeger‑LeCoultre Monoface Small Seconds “Or Deco Cocktail”
There’s never a shortage of exquisite watches at the Met Gala. This year, JLC took advantage of the star-studded event to debut a then-unreleased edition of the Reverso Tribute called the “Or Deco Cocktail” on the wrists of Finn Wolfhard and Tyriq Withers.
The new trio includes two white gold models and one pink gold model, each with gemstone gadroons set using the Métiers Rares™ expert rail-setting technique. One of the white gold models is decorated with 46 baguette-cut emeralds, while the other has 46 baguette-cut sapphires. Lastly, the pink gold model is paired with 46 rubies to complement its warmer tones.
Aside from the metal finish and gemstone adornments, all three watches are the same. They each measure 45.6mm long by 27.4mm wide and 7.56mm thick and have matching, neatly integrated Milanese mesh bracelets. Each is powered by the caliber 822 hand-wound movement with small seconds and a 42-hour power reserve. The “monoface” component features a reverse dial that’s unadorned and ready to be customized with engravings or lacquer if the wearer so chooses. Each is limited to just 30 watches.

Jaeger-LeCoultre introduces La Vallée des Merveilles
The new La Vallée des Merveilles (Valley of Marvels) collection will feature limited-edition watches from various collections. Each will pay homage to the beauty of nature around the world. The intricate enameling, gem-setting, lacquer work, and guilloché, among other artistic design elements, will be executed by the brand’s Métiers Rares (rare handcrafts) atelier, a workshop established by JLC in 2016. Kicking things off is a trio of Reverso One watches limited to just 20 watches and inspired by Hawaii and Japan.
Reverso One Hibiscus Syriacus and Hibiscus Rosa
Two watches take their inspiration from the lush, tropical landscape of Hawaii. The Hibiscus Syriacus model depicts an Akialoa and a beautiful blue hibiscus in Grand Feu champlevé enamel floating above a blue lacquer sky. With Grand Feu champlevé enamel, the motif outline is hollowed from a gold base and then filled layer by layer with enamel. Each layer is fired up to 800° Celsius. The image on this model is housed in an 18k pink gold case encrusted with 335 grain-set diamonds. It comes on a blue leather strap or a matching 18k pink gold bracelet with 384 more diamonds.
The Hibiscus Rosa model is similar but features a Grand Feu champlevé enamel Akialoa sipping nectar from a vibrant red hibiscus. This hue requires several firings at different temperatures and 9 layers of enamel to obtain. This time, the motif is set against a field of 489 snow-set diamonds in 9 different sizes. Like its blue counterpart, the case is paired with either a pink gold bracelet sparkling in 384 diamonds or a red leather strap to match the motif.
In a true testament to JLC’s watchmaking mastery, the image on the Hibiscus Rosa curves around the case to the front, revealing parts of the entire motif and inviting the wearer to flip the dial over to view it in all its glory. You can see an example in the second image below.
The gold flower pistil on both models is made of paillonné enamel. 24k gold leaf is cut to size and then laid over a gold base. The entire pistol is then covered with several layers of clear enamel.
Reverso One Sakura
The Sakura, Japan’s term for cherry blossom, represents springtime and renewal. Here, the tree’s delicate pink flowers are depicted alongside a magnificent, red-crowned crane and lush green reeds. Most of the motif is made of Grand Feu champlevé enamel, except for the crane’s body and wings, which are decorated with snow-set diamonds. The enamel for the neck and down feathers is applied using a single-hair brush made by the enameller himself.
Snow-set sapphires and diamonds represent the lake behind the crane. JLC makes a point of noting that this is the first time the brand has used colored snow-set gemstones, totaling 269 diamonds and 395 sapphires throughout the watch.

Master Grande Tradition Tourbillon Jumping Date
Jaeger-LeCoultre’s caliber 978 made history in 2009 by winning the first modern-era chronometry competition. Today, that celebrated movement has been upgraded in the new Master Grande Tradition Tourbillon Jumping Date in a limited run of just 100 watches. The movement is beautifully finished and is now comprised of just over 300 parts, ensuring its most fascinating components are visible through the dial. The “Jumping Date” accommodates the tourbillon at 6 o’clock by skipping right past it at the stroke of midnight from the 15th to the 16th of the month, never obscuring the complex mechanism. It’s a nice touch for those who like to observe the mechanics of their watch in real time. The rest of the dates are evenly spaced around the dial and indicated by a special, red-tipped JL hand. The 24-hour sub-dial serves as both an AM/PM indicator and a second time zone.
Flipping the watch over, we can see the movement through the case back. JLC employs 10 different types of decorations, including perlage, hand-beveling, sunray brushing, Côtes de Genève, and more. Sunray stripes called Côtes de Genève soleillé adorn the bridges, and the rotor is made of monobloc 22k pink gold to match the case.
Turning our attention back to the dial, it features a dynamic barleycorn pattern covered with deep blue translucent enamel. We can see parts of the movement through thoughtfully placed cut-outs, including the screws that hold the wheel staff near the 2-hour marker, the calendar driver mechanism at 9 o’clock, and, of course, the tourbillon. It’s all housed in an exquisite pink gold case, finished to the highest JLC standards and paired with a comfortable leather strap. Everything we’d expect from such a “grande” watch.

Master Hybris Inventiva Gyrotourbillon À Stratosphère
Before there was the watch you see here, there was the Hybris Mechanica released in 2003, which focused on complex movements, followed by the Hybris Artistica from 2014, which gave existing models the Métiers Rares treatment with exquisite finishing techniques. JLC is adding a third sub-model for Watches and Wonders 2026: the Hybris Inventiva. Each watch in this series will feature just one complication that pushes the boundaries of JLC watchmaking. Once-secret prototypes developed over years, or possibly even decades, will now take their place in the catalog as extremely limited-edition runs.
The Gyrotourbillon À Stratosphère released for W&W 2026 takes the concept of a Gyrotourbillon (a double-axis tourbillon first released by the brand back in 2004) and ups the ante by using a triple-axis tourbillon. The concept is quite extraordinary. Three titanium tourbillon cages rotate along three different axes at three different speeds to cover 98% of positions: the inner cage is 20 seconds, the center cage is 60 seconds, and the outer cage is 90 seconds. The round layered shape inspired the name Gyrotourbillon À Stratosphère.
The Calibre 178 powering it all is quite beautiful, too. perlage, Côtes de Genève, snailing, guillochage, lacquering, and even enameling adorn components such as plates and bridges.
Most of the movement architecture is visible through the front of the watch, complemented by a blue top ring for hours and minutes and a bottom ring surrounding the Gyrotourbillon À Stratosphère for seconds. It’s all housed in a handsome platinum case paired with a blue alligator leather strap to match the blue enameling.

Master Hybris Mechanica Ultra Thin Minute Repeater
That brings us to the next release, a new watch under the Hybris Mechanica, featuring a new variation of the caliber 362, the thinnest self-winding minute repeater tourbillon ever made at 4.7mm thick. The movement achieves its svelte profile by incorporating complications, like the minute repeater, into the movement architecture itself, rather than adding them to a base caliber. Furthermore, JLC uses fewer layers for the repeater striking mechanism, and the flying tourbillon is made with fewer components, namely the upper bridge. Additionally, rather than a traditional central rotor, the caliber 362 uses a “peripheral oscillating mass” surrounding the movement itself.
How does JLC showcase the movement in all its glory without sacrificing function? It uses sapphire crystal for the three movement bridges instead of more traditional options like skeletonized metal bridges. It would be impossible to set the rubies into the sapphire bridges effectively, so they’re housed inside 18k pink gold chatons instead.
18k pink gold hour markers circle the edge of the dial, giving way to the movement and its beautiful finishing, including the guilloché pink gold winding rotor supplied by the ateliers at JLC’s Métiers Rares. The case is made of pink gold and features a button at 10 o’clock to activate the minute repeater, and another at 8 to lock and release it.

Master Control Chronometre
JLC is debuting a brand new Master collection for Watches and Wonders 2026 called the Master Control Chronometre, alongside three inaugural models in various metal finishes and with different types of complications. Both the cases and the integrated bracelets on these new releases were developed specially for the Master Control Chronometre, and, keeping with its prestigious name, the collection is officially debuting JLC’s new HPG seal, which stands for “High Precision Guarantee.”
The name “Chronometre” also indicates that the watches in this collection are COSC-certified, a distinction required for any watch bearing “Chronometre” on its dial.
About the HPG Seal: “HPG” first appeared in 1970 on the dials of Jaeger-LeCoultre watches using the 4Hz cal. 916. The new seal introduced alongside the Master Control Chronometre certifies the movements are both precise and executed to the highest JLC standards. It tests watches after casing for real-world, everyday wear.
Tests cover four elements of normal wear: altitude (sea level up to 1,004 meters), shocks (25G to 50G in various positions), positions, and temperature (18°C to 35°C) to simulate various activities.
Under the HPG Seal, movements are decorated using eight different techniques: circular graining, Côtes de Genève, circular smoothing, burnishing, polished screw heads, linear smoothing, sunk rubies, and beveling.
The distinctive bracelet draws inspiration from the dauphine-style hands. Flat center links are paired with polished prism-shaped links, while the outer links are decorated with polished, V-shaped bevels. Furthermore, dials have a lovely sunray texture. And, of course, it wouldn’t be a proper Master Control Chronometre without a view of the movement through each case back.

Master Control Chronometre Date Power Reserve
JLC developed a new movement for the date/power reserve model, the caliber 738, which is developed and produced solely in-house and measures just 4.97mm thick.
The 1951 Futurematic inspired the dial layout with two twin sub-dials mirroring each other at 3 and 9 o’clock. The power reserve is at 9, while the date is neatly tucked into the 3 o’clock position. This sub-model is the only one in the inaugural collection available only in steel.

Master Control Chronometre Perpetual Calendar
The Perpetual Calendar model, like any other in watchmaking, displays a wealth of information on the dial. Here, four perfectly symmetrical sub-dials display the day of the week at 3 o’clock, the date at 9 o’clock, the month and year at 12 o’clock, and the moon phase at 6 o’clock. Power for the full calendar comes from the caliber 868, which also corrects for leap years, so there’s no need to adjust the calendar until 2100 if the watch is wound.
The movement also includes a single corrector mechanism that allows the wearer to adjust the synchronized calendar functions simultaneously. This sub-model comes in two different variations: steel with a blue dial or pink gold with a bronze-tone dial.

Reverso Tribute Enamel Hokusai Waterfalls Series
Jaeger LeCoultre is adding four new models to its artist’s “Waterfalls” series. The Reverso Tribute watches are each cased in 18k white gold and will be limited to 10 per model. Guilloché dials adorn one side, with tiny enamel versions of 19th-century artist Hokusai’s paintings on the other. Each of the four variations will feature a different painting from a different region. They will be the last four in an 8-part “Waterfalls” series called A Tour of the Waterfalls of the Provinces.
Reverso Tribute Enamel Hokusai Waterfalls Series Rōben Waterfall at Ōyama in Sagami Province
Water rushes down a long, vertical waterfall into a crowded cleansing pool in the Ōyama in Sagami Province model. According to JLC, it’s meant to represent how the strength of nature can coexist with the fragility of humanity. The front dial features a delicate hand-guilloché barleycorn motif.
Reverso Tribute Enamel Hokusai Waterfalls Series Kiyotaki Kannon Waterfall at Sakanoshita on the Tōkaidō
Here, the waterfall is depicted like “gentle silken strands,” perfectly setting the scene for the Kannon temple and the pilgrims making their way towards it. The front dial is decorated with a wavy hand-guilloché motif in a rich emerald enamel.
Reverso Tribute Enamel Hokusai Waterfalls Series Yōrō Waterfall in Mino Province
As legend has it, the waters of the Yōrō Waterfall in Mino Province could once turn into sake, a gift given to the region by the Gods. To demonstrate that lore, tiny human figures are placed in the foreground of a strong waterfall. The front dial has an olive enamel hand-guilloché bamboo motif.
Reverso Tribute Enamel Hokusai Waterfalls Series The Falls at Aoigaoka in the Eastern Capital
The last motif in the series juxtaposes the serene lake waters where the falls originate with the bustling basin below. People in the region go about their daily activities, almost unaware of the water. The front dial on this model features a cyan-blue enamel hand-guilloché herringbone motif.
