What is the Price of an Omega Speedmaster?
Depending on the model and where it is purchased, modern Omega Speedmaster prices can range anywhere from as low as $4,000 to over $50,000 on the secondhand market. The Speedmaster is one of Omega’s largest collections, so Omega Speedmaster prices are all over the board. The cheapest steel Speedmaster Professional model retails for $6,600, while the jaw-dropping Chrono Chime lists for $513,000. Our comprehensive Omega Speedmaster price guide below covers everything you need to know about how much an Omega Speedmaster costs.
Omega Moonwatch Prices
One of the more affordable Speedmaster models is also one of the most beloved – the famous Omega Moonwatch, which is fashioned after the ones that went to the Moon in 1969. The retail price for a steel Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch with an old-school Hesalite crystal and a matching steel bracelet is $6,400, but these can be purchased at much lower prices from a grey market dealer. Older Speedmaster Moonwatch models are even less expensive; for instance, the recently discontinued Moonwatch (ref. 311.30.42.30.01.005) generally costs about $4,500 on the secondary market.
About Omega Speedmaster Watches
Omega debuted the Speedmaster in 1957 as the world’s first chronograph with a tachymeter scale on the bezel rather than the dial. While the Speedmaster was originally positioned as the ultimate racing chronograph, it eventually became associated with mankind’s greatest space exploration endeavors.
In 1965, NASA qualified the Omega Speedmaster Professional for all manned space missions and Extravehicular Activity (EVA). A few years later, when Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins journeyed to the Moon on Apollo 11, they all had their NASA-issued Speedmaster watches with them. As a result, the Speedmaster was the first watch worn on the surface of the Moon and affectionately became known as the Moonwatch.
Difference between an Omega Moonwatch and an Omega Speedmaster
Although the words Speedmaster and Moonwatch are often used interchangeably, there are indeed many variations of the Omega Speedmaster. The Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch models are direct descendants of those references that made it to the Moon in 1969. However, there are also Speedmaster watches dedicated to racing, some that pay tribute to the original model from 1957, some vintage-inspired iterations, some digital-analog hybrids, and so much more.

Omega Materials
Like many luxury watch brands, Omega often uses proprietary metal alloys to craft its watches. Here’s a quick description of what these materials are:
- Moonshine Gold: an 18k yellow gold alloy that is notably paler than traditional 18k yellow gold
- Sedna Gold: an 18k rose gold alloy that blends gold, copper, and palladium
- Canopus Gold: an 18k white gold alloy that blends gold, platinum, rhodium, and palladium
Given all the variations, Omega Speedmaster price points vary widely depending on the specific model and material.

How Much Does an Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch Cost?
Among all the Speedmaster variations, the Speedmaster Professional Moonwatches are the most popular given their association with the historic lunar landing. These models are characterized by 42mm cases, three counters on the dials, tachymeter scales on the bezels (typically aluminum but sometimes ceramic), and two chronograph pump pushers flanking the winding crown.
For purists, the most authentic Moonwatches are the steel versions with Hesalite crystals–similar to the ones issued to the astronauts of Apollo 11. However, Omega now makes a wide array of Speedmaster Professional Moonwatches in different materials.
At retail, the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch price starts at $6,000 for a steel model with a Hesalite crystal and a nylon strap. This same model can be purchased for less than the sticker price on the secondary market. The most expensive Omega moon watch price is the full Canopus gold edition which retails for $49,400. An Omega Moonwatch price will almost always be less costly on the secondary market; however, there are some exceptions such as the full Moonshine gold model with a gold dial and bezel.

How Much Does an Omega Speedmaster Heritage Cost?
The Speedmaster Heritage collection is home to special anniversary models, reissues, and tributes to important vintage Speedmaster models. For example, Speedmaster ’57 watches pay tribute to the very first Speedmaster from 1957, complete with a metal bezel and broad-arrow hands. Speedmaster Calibre 321 watches are fitted with the resurrected Lemania-based Caliber 321 manual-winding movements that powered the ealiest Speedmasters.
One of the most collectible (and therefore priciest) modern Speedmaster is the one known as the Silver Snoopy Award. This was made in honor of the Silver Snoopy Award Omega received in 1970 for the Speedmaster’s pivotal role in getting the astronauts of Apollo 13 back home safely. Omega has made three Speedmaster Snoopy models so far: in 2003, 2015, and 2020.
Several anniversary Speedmasters are priced higher on the secondary market thanks to their limited availability and general collectability.
