Gallet Is Back! A Look at All Its 2026 Watch Releases

Two hundred years after its founding, historic Swiss watchmaker Gallet is back. Relaunched in 2026 as Breitling’s sister company, the brand has introduced a range of watches inspired by its long history of making chronographs for pilots, racers, and explorers. The lineup includes the Flying Officer, Multichron Pilot, Multichron Sport, and a trio of anniversary tribute watches. Here’s a closer look at Gallet’s 2026 return and the watches leading its revival.

What Is Gallet?

Founded in 1826 by Julien Gallet in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the company built its reputation on chronographs and precision timing instruments. Among its historical claims to fame, Gallet says one of its stopwatches was used to time the Wright brothers’ first powered flight in 1903, and its Flying Officer chronograph, introduced in 1939, was worn by U.S. President Harry S. Truman.

Like many traditional Swiss watchmakers, Gallet struggled during the quartz crisis and eventually faded from prominence.

Breitling AG acquired the brand in 2025 and officially relaunched it in September 2026, coinciding with its 200th anniversary. Positioned as a more affordable sibling to Breitling, Gallet’s watches are manufactured using Breitling’s infrastructure, with access to its distribution network and after-sales service.

The new collection focuses on mechanical watches, particularly chronographs, with designs drawn from Gallet’s archives. All models feature quick-release attachments, making it easy to switch between leather, rubber, and fabric straps or stainless steel bracelets without tools. While most of them run on Sellita-based movements, there is one Gallet collection (so far) that’s powered by an in-house Breitling movement.

Flying Officer

Originally introduced in 1939, the Gallet Flying Officer was designed for long-distance aviation, with a rotating city bezel that helped pilots keep track of the time at international refueling stops. President Harry S. Truman reportedly called it “the most elaborate watch [he] ever saw.”

For its 2026 revival, Gallet has updated the bezel with 24 destinations and introduced two versions of the Flying Officer, both featuring 40mm cases. While it may be cosplaying as a worldtimer, the watch does not, in fact, automatically track multiple time zones. Instead, its rotating bezel works as a manual time-zone calculator, using a 12-hour scale and 24 city names to help determine the time in another location.

The Flying Officer Chronograph comes in light blue or black, with matching subdials and the automatic Gallet 23 movement, based on the Sellita SW510, offering approximately 65 hours of power reserve. Prices start at $4,400 on a strap or $4,600 on a bracelet.

The three-hand Flying Officer Automatic is available in orange or dark blue, powered by the automatic Gallet 17 movement, based on the Sellita SW200, with approximately 38 hours of power reserve. It’s priced at $2,900 on a strap or $3,100 on a bracelet.

Multichron Pilot

The Gallet Multichron Pilot may trace its origins to 1969, but its 2026 revival looks surprisingly contemporary. The original’s distinctive arrow-shaped hour markers, pump-style pushers, tri-compax layout, and rotating 12-hour bezel are all present, joined by textured dials, contrasting subdials, and a date window at 6 o’clock.

Available in black with white subdials (a.k.a. reverse panda) or denim blue with black subdials, it’s a modern take on a vintage aviation chronograph that hasn’t lost its instrument-watch character.

Measuring 42mm, the Multichron Pilot uses the same automatic Gallet 23 chronograph movement as the Flying Officer, with approximately 65 hours of power reserve. Prices start at $4,400 on a strap or $4,600 on a stainless steel bracelet.

Multichron Sport

Of all the watches in Gallet’s revived lineup, the Multichron Sport looks the most like a Breitling to my eye. Perhaps that’s because, unlike the other models, it isn’t based on a specific vintage Gallet watch. Instead, it takes inspiration from the brand’s broader history of motorsport chronographs, including the Multichron 12 Scientific of the 1960s. The 41mm stainless steel case—water resistant to 100 meters—houses dials with big ol’ luminous Arabic numerals, bright orange chronograph hands, and a tachymeter scale. Buyers can choose between a dark blue dial with black subdials or a black dial with contrasting white subdials. Both versions feature a date window at 6 o’clock.

Inside is the automatic Gallet 23 chronograph movement, also used in the Flying Officer Chronograph and Multichron Pilot. Like the other automatic chronographs in the collection, the Multichron Sport costs $4,400 on a strap or $4,600 on a bracelet.

Gallet Classics

Gallet saved some of its most historically faithful designs for the Classics collection, a trio of hand-wound chronographs celebrating the brand’s 200th anniversary. The lineup revisits three historic chronographs, with input from collectors, historians, and longtime Gallet enthusiasts.

All three share a 38mm stainless steel case measuring 12.5mm thick, a two-register dial layout, and Breitling’s hand-wound manufacture Caliber B09, which offers approximately 70 hours of power reserve.

The Tribute to Yachting Big Eye revives a 1960s regatta chronograph, complete with an oversized red-and-blue countdown register. The Tribute to Multichron 45 takes a more restrained direction, with a black dial, matching subdials, and luminous details inspired by the original aviation and racing chronograph. Finally, the Tribute to Silverlight draws on the vintage Multichron Navigator, featuring a silver-toned dial and distinctive, softly irregular numerals.

Unlike Gallet’s other collections, the Classics are available exclusively on interchangeable straps, with no bracelet option. They’re also the most expensive watches in the revived lineup, priced at $6,700 each.

Gallet’s Comeback

Gallet’s return is part of a bigger plan for the House of Brands (formerly known as Breitling AG), which also includes Breitling and Universal Genève. The idea is to have three historic Swiss watchmakers at different price points, with Gallet taking the most affordable spot, Breitling in the middle, and Universal Genève at the top.

Starting at $2,900, Gallet’s new watches are considerably less expensive than most Breitling watches, entering a market that its famous sibling has largely moved away from. And with 200 years of history and some genuinely interesting vintage designs to work with, there’s plenty of potential here. The question is whether Gallet can carve out a following of its own or end up saddled with the unfortunate label of the “poor man’s Breitling.”
