Tudor’s First Moonphase Watch Unveiled: The 1926 Luna
Tudor has had a very strong run as a luxury watch brand since 2010, having re-entered the British and American markets and launched successful sports watch lineups like the Black Bay and Pelagos. Their non-sports watches, including the straightforward and classy 1926, have never gained much steam, though. Perhaps the reasonably-priced 1926 Luna, launched in September 2025, will give collectors a reason to consider a dressy Tudor. Here’s the scoop on the very first Tudor moonphase watch.
The Design of Tudor’s First Moonphase
The 1926 Luna, the latest of Tudor’s 2025 releases, has the same case as the standard 39mm 1926 model that has been in the lineup since 2018, except it’s almost a millimeter thicker (10.1mm vs. 9.2mm). A metal seven-link bracelet with nicely-fitting endlinks is standard.
Offered with black, blue, or champagne dials, the 1926 Luna features hands that are color-matched to its hour markers. I find the black hands and hour markers on the champagne dial particularly appealing. The black date wheels also look nice on the champagne and black versions, but apparently Tudor thought a standard white date wheel fit better on the blue one.
Inside the 1926 Luna is, unsurprisingly, a rather common Sellita movement. The TUDOR T607-9 caliber is based on the Sellita SW280-1 in particular. It’s nothing fancy, and nobody will be impressed by its 38-hour power reserve, but it’s a perfectly good, reliable movement and Tudor seems to be pricing it appropriately.
Tudor 1926 Luna Price
The Tudor 1926 Luna retails for $2,800, only a $575 premium over the basic time-and-date model. Tudor’s first moonphase watch is a pretty big deal, and I think it will sell well at that price without discounting, although I don’t expect the 1926 Luna to get so hot that it sells above MSRP secondhand.

So, Tudor’s first moonphase watch doesn’t have an in-house movement, chronometer certification, a micro-adjust clasp, or any fancy bells and whistles, but the visual execution is quite good–and as I said, the price is about right. I’ll admit I never got particularly excited by the 1926 lineup before, but the 1926 Luna might give it the “reason for being” that it needed.
