Ulysse Nardin 2025 Releases: The World’s Lightest Dive Watch and More
Ulysse Nardin makes exceptionally well-finished watches with unquestionably high-grade movements. The Freak is a fantastic horological achievement, and there’s a new Bucherer-exclusive version of it. But there aren’t many watches in the Ulysse Nardin catalog that I would call “pretty.” Their aesthetic is unapologetically aggressive and avant-garde, and it has its fans–but not enough fans to stop most UN’s from being deeply discounted on the secondhand market. We have a lot of respect for the quality of Ulysse Nardin’s work, but their watches aren’t for everyone. The first 2025 Ulysse Nardin release was the Blast Amoureuxpeintre, a dark monochromatic watch that actually looks nice without giving up too much of their DNA. And at Watches and Wonders, they released a record-breaking dive watch. Here’s a quick rundown on the Ulysse Nardin models that are new for 2025.

Diver [AIR] and Diver [X Skeleton One More Wave]
Ulysse Nardin broke records with their release of the Diver [AIR] at Watches and Wonders 2025, claiming the title of world’s lightest mechanical dive watch at just 52 grams including the strap. The watch features the new caliber UN-374, notable not only for its aggressive skeletonization but also for being made of titanium (which is notoriously difficult to machine) instead of the typical brass. It’s essentially an even lighter version of the Diver [X Skeleton] that first appeared in 2021.
Despite the lightness, the Diver [AIR] is extremely durable–Ulysse Nardin claims it can withstand impacts up to 5,000G. The case construction employs a modular approach, combining a recycled titanium midcase with Nylo-Foil case sides. Nylo-Foil is made from a combination of recycled ocean netting and upcycled carbon fiber scraps that come from high-performance sailboat production. Meanwhile, the luminous-filled bezel insert is made from CarbonFoil, also made from those aforementioned carbon fiber sailboat scraps (but no fishnets).
The Diver [AIR], like many Ulysse Nardin watches, boasts a silicon escapement. But this time, it’s made from upcycled silicon wafers. The watch has a water resistance of 200 meters and comes with two interchangeable elastic fabric straps. Priced at $38,000, the Diver [AIR] represents Ulysse Nardin’s latest effort in lightweight, sustainable dive watch design, and it looks quite good, too.
For a watch with a bit more color, you could consider the similar Ulysse Nardin Diver [X Skeleton One More Wave], also released in 2025. Instead of an ultra-light fabric strap, it comes on rubber, so it’s not quite as lightweight as the Air. The turquoise accents are nice. Like the Air, it’s made of titanium, but this time it’s DLC-coated and not recycled.
The Diver [X Skeleton One More Wave] celebrates the brand’s ongoing partnership with the veteran-founded surf therapy nonprofit One More Wave. Although the focus of the One More Wave edition is less on sustainable materials than with the Air version, it still has elements like the CarbonFoil bezel, made of upcycled scraps from the French aerospace industry. Limited to 50 pieces, the Ulysse Nardin Diver [X Skeleton One More Wave] will only be sold in the USA.

Ulysse Nardin Freak X Enamel Bucherer Exclusive
When the Ulysse Nardin Freak debuted in 2001, it was groundbreaking for multiple reasons. First, it had the first watch movement to ever use silicon parts, providing a host of benefits like a reduced need for lubrication. But the Freak is best known for its “flying carrousel” time display, effectively using the rotating movement itself to act as the hour and minute hands.
The Freak X, introduced in 2019, is a simpler, smaller, and cheaper interpretation of the Freak. The Freak X has a normal winding crown and an automatic movement, instead of the Freak’s unusual manual movement, which is wound by rotating the caseback and set by rotating the bezel. The Freak X lacks the Freak’s exotic Dual Direct Escapement, but aside from that, some people prefer the Freak X regardless of price. The first Ulysse Nardin Freak X release of 2025 was a Bucherer exclusive with a 43mm titanium case. Bucherer exclusives don’t all have blue dials anymore, and the Ulysse Nardin Freak X Enamel Bucherer Exclusive (ref. 2303-270LE-8AE-BUCH/3A) has a spectacular green dial.
“The dial’s rich green hue is achieved through meticulous enamel work, with multiple layers fired to perfection” according to Bucherer. Only 18 will be made, with a list price of £35,740 (roughly $49,000). At Geneva Watch Days 2025, UN released a Freak X with, arguably, an even more special dial.
Freak X [Crystalium]
Crystalium is Ulysse Nardin’s term for crystallized and plated ruthenium, a precious metal much rarer than platinum. They first used it on a special purple dial for a 2024 Freak S release that was exclusive to Watches of Switzerland. For 2025, Ulysse Nardin has released a regular production Freak X model with a rose gold Crystalium dial, and it looks great. The black hands contrast nicely against the two-tiered crystallized rose gold surfaces.
Now we’ll compare the specs of both 2025 Ulysse Nardin Freak X releases.

Blast Amoureuxpeintre
“Amoureuxpeintre” is the pseudonym of designer Vsevolod Cherepanov, who collaborated with Ulysse Nardin to create this limited-edition Blast Amoureuxpeintre. It loosely translates from French to “lover of painting.” Only 29 will be made.
The Blast lineup debuted in 2020, with 45mm cases, automatic movements, and integrated straps. The Blast Skeleton X debuted in 2024 with manual-wind skeletonized movements and a 42mm size. For 2025, the Ulysse Nardin Blast Amoureuxpeintre is essentially a new Skeleton X colorway. The star of the show here, apart from the impressive semi-hidden skeletonized UN-371 movement, is the frosted sapphire crystal. It gives the dial an attractive translucent appearance. The back of the watch has a “semi-exhibition” frosted sapphire crystal as well.
The dark grey (“anthracite”) PVD-coated titanium case and grey alcantara strap complete the dark/mysterious aesthetic. The hands are a really cool shape–a very modern interpretation of lance hands–but they seem to have sacrificed some readability for style with the dark grey Superluminova they chose. Let’s go over all the details.

Blast Amoureuxpeintre Price/Availability
With a list price of $32,700–double the price of some pre-owned Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore references–the Blast Amoureuxpeintre probably won’t fly off the shelves. Frankly, we’ll sell you a used Blast Tourbillon for that price! But given the production volume of only 29 pieces, I’m sure every Blast Amoureuxpeintre will find a home eventually. Resale value aside, this watch manages to be genuinely unique-looking without being wild or disjointed.
Blast [Sparkling Rainbow]
If you want the wildest possible watch, however, you could consider one covered with with 211 rainbow-colored sapphires totalling 13.33 carats. The Blast [Sparkling Rainbow] is a full-size (45mm) Blast model with an automatic skeletonized movement featuring a flying tourbillon at 6 o’clock. Only 8 examples will be made, with a list price of $476,500.

Overall, the 2025 Ulysse Nardin novelties are pretty much in line with what we expect from the brand. The record-setting Diver [AIR] is impressive, and so is UN’s movement finishing, but they still gravitate towards a rather brutalist design ethos. I would love to see some more approachable-but-still-distinctive design language akin to the Blast Amoureuxpeintre. In any case, we’ll keep you posted with all the new Ulysse Nardin releases!
