Franck Muller Early 2025 Releases

Franck Muller watches were smoking hot in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s, but the brand fell out of favor as their reputation for world-class complications was dimmed by years of overpriced quartz models. Franck Muller has never really fully regained their mojo, particularly among American watch collectors, but the Western Hemisphere doesn’t seem to be their main focus nowadays. The brand has quietly been going upscale, largely catering to wealthy Asian customers with exotic limited editions, and they’ve recently opened boutiques in places like Macau, New Delhi and Thailand. The newest Franck Muller models include an Asia-Pacific exclusive, and also an interesting release exclusive to one store in France. In this article we’ll break down all the early 2025 Franck Muller releases.

Grand Central Tourbillon Rainbow

The first Franck Muller Grand Central Tourbillon model debuted in 2021, and for 2025 they’ve made their most exotic iteration yet: the Grand Central Tourbillon Rainbow. Relocating the tourbillon from its traditional 6 o’clock position to the center of the dial involves re-engineering a lot of the movement architecture. Plus it presents a the challenge of how to display the time around a centrally located tourbillon. Ultimately the brand decided on two mouse-cursor-like pointers around the rim of the tourbillon.

All Grand Central Tourbillon models have Franck Muller’s Curvex CX case shape, which is why their reference numbers all start with CX36TCTR or CX40TCTR. Even the most basic of those models starts at over $120,000, so expect a huge price tag for the 2025 Franck Muller Grand Central Tourbillon Rainbow.

Many of today’s rainbow luxury watches have rainbow bezels, but the rainbow part of this watch is all on the dial: a gradient of trapezoidal sapphire surrounds the tourbillon while rainbow baguette sapphires mark the hours. The rest of the dial, along with the entire case, is paved with diamonds. While the flagship pieces of many once-hot luxury watch brands sell secondhand for deep discounts, it’s hard to find really high-end pre-owned Franck Muller models for sale at all. Even if FM doesn’t get much hype these days, the collectors buying up their exotic pieces (whoever they are) seem to be holding onto them.

Vanguard Navy

If you like the Franck Muller Vanguard Yachting models, but you don’t like the compass rose motif in the middle of the dial, you’re in luck–because the 2025 Franck Muller Vanguard Navy models are basically just like Yachting ones but without any motif in the middle (and also the crown guards are just steel, not colored like on Yachting models). Before Richard Mille was one of the top luxury watch brands, Franck Muller was the king of the tonneau case, and the Vanguard represents their sportiest tonneau cases of all.

Three uncontroversial dial colors are offered: Silver (which really looks white), Blue, or Black (really more dark grey). If you’re confused about what makes a Vanguard Navy different than a regular Vanguard model, well, basically it’s the crown guard. “Regular” Vanguard models have no crown guard at all, while “Racing” Vanguard models have a blocky one. But I kinda like the sail-esque crown guards on the Yachting/Navy/Mariner models. This non-limited watch retails for $10,600 with a white dial or $11,300 with a blue or dark grey dial.

2025 Franck Muller Vanguard Slim Night Cut

Chronopassion, a well-known luxury watch retail store in Paris, is widely regarded as an industry leader. They stock several of the well-known top luxury watch brands but they’ve also been early supporters of exotic independents like MB&F. Their stellar reputation is probably why Franck Muller chose to release the Vanguard Slim Night Cut exclusively at their store.

This 2025 Franck Muller release is essentially a new darker colorway of the 2020 Vanguard Line Cut, which was also exclusively sold in France (although not just Chronopassion that time). The Vanguard features an interesting “gap” between the front and back sides of the case, with an inlay in between that creates some interesting visual distinction. That inlay is typically rubber, but the Slim Cut was the first version to feature a resin inlay instead. On the new Slim Night Cut version, that resin is infused with lume. It’s a pretty cool aesthetic choice. Let’s go over all the specs:

The 30m depth rating and 42-hour power reserve definitely aren’t impressing anyone these days, but the in-house FM 708 movement is very well-finished and quite thin. The SuperLuminova-coated hand-applied hour numerals are nice, too. Personally I like the choice to forego a seconds hand and run with a simple two-hand configuration; there isn’t much competition in the two-hand luxury sports watch space.

The case is made of micro-blasted grade 5 titanium with a black PVD treatment. The luxury watch industry is apparently favoring PVD-coated titanium over PVD-coated steel nowadays, as coated titanium seems to hold up better to scratches over time.

The 2025 Franck Muller Vanguard Slim Night Cut has a list price of €15,000 including VAT (that’s about $15,625) and it’s only available at Chronopassion. That price isn’t too bad–at least compared to some of the basic ladies’ quartz watches they used to try to sell for like $9,000. As I noted in my Franck Muller collector’s guide, most FM watches tend to lose a great deal of value on the secondhand market, but with their models becoming increasingly upscale and unique, that may start to happen less. That’s basically what happened to Parmigiani Fleurier.

Silhouette CX Snake

Chinese Zodiac-themed luxury watches are becoming increasingly common, and Franck Muller is one of many brands who released Year of the Snake Watches for 2025. The Franck Muller Silhouette CX Snake, released January 10, 2025, is a limited edition model (28 pieces available exclusively across Asia Pacific) with an asymmetrical 18k rose gold case. Its shape resembles the tonneau case of a Curvex CX, but with a bit of a “melted” look–like this is Franck Muller’s take on the Cartier Crash.

The stamped guilloché dial features an impressive handset snake motif adorned with various-sized emeralds in a snow-setting pattern that minimizes visible prongs. The asymmetrical numerals are precisely arranged to align within the irregular dial outline. Still, I think this new asymmetrical case shape is the star here.

The Silhouette CX Snake comes on a dual-layer strap features snakeskin-textured calf leather on the outside with rubber underneath. List price is 66,000 SGD, or about $49,400.

Thoughts on the 2025 Franck Muller Releases

For now, Franck Muller continues to be one of the most underrated watch brands on the market in my opinion. They’ve been willing to play with some interesting aesthetics in recent years, and the lumed case sides on this 2025 Franck Muller release are an example of that. I just hope they make some cool (relatively) attainable new watches that aren’t region-specific.
