Taylor Swift’s Cartier Demoiselle Watch Takes Center Stage at Her Proposal
Listen, I know there aren’t a lot of Swifties in the watch-collecting community, but when one of the most famous people on the planet gets engaged with a really nice watch on their wrist, I feel inclined to share. The newly minted billionaire posted earlier this morning, announcing her engagement to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. The duo posed in what might be the most romantic garden I’ve ever seen, proudly showing off a large, yellow gold diamond sparkler, accompanied by a gold Cartier Santos Demoiselle to match. Here’s the lowdown on the “Taylor Swift” Cartier watch.
Taylor Swift isn’t really known for her watch game, but there have been a few notable moments as of late. She graced the red carpet at the 2024 Grammys, wearing a customized Concord watch as a choker around her neck, and stepped out later that year at a Chiefs vs. Broncos game wearing a yellow gold Louis Vuitton Tambour.
More recently, though, it seems she’s been favoring the gold Cartier Santos Demoiselle that made an appearance in today’s engagement post. She wore the watch during the Super Bowl as well as a few weeks ago, when she announced the release date for her next album, The Life of a Showgirl, on Kelcey’s Podcast New Heights, which she paired with a gorgeous gold Panthère de Cartier necklace, by the way.
While she hasn’t confirmed which watch it is exactly, Taylor Swift’s Cartier appears to be a medium-sized gold 2702 model from the early 2000s, pictured below, which features a five-link bracelet and diamonds on the lugs, bezel, and crown, not to be confused with a regular Cartier Santos or the similar Cartier Panthère de Cartier.
The Demoiselle, a discontinued collection, is part of the broader Cartier Santos family, featuring a similar but more feminine square-shaped case and often a quartz movement. Interestingly, while the Santos was named after aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont, the Demoiselle takes its name from one of his planes. It’s a fashion-forward choice that I think suits Swift and her affinity for gold jewelry. It will be interesting to see if Taylor Swift adds more Cartier pieces to her growing collection next.
