Every spring, a few days before releasing new watches at the world’s biggest annual watch fair, Rolex creates a buzz by posting cute super-zoomed-in swoopy videos of their novelties on social media. And we’re here for it. This year, which is the original Rolex Oyster’s 100-year anniversary, Rolex’s Instagram reel appears to show a two-tone Oyster Perpetual with “100 Years” written where “Swiss Made” would go.

How Do We Know This is Even a Real Watch?

While the above picture (from this reel) could just be a fun Photoshop of a watch that doesn’t exist, Rolex has never done that before. Rolex’s social media teasers, historically, have always depicted real watches.

Is it Definitely an Oyster Perpetual?

The “double baton” hour markers at 6 o’clock clearly denote Oyster Perpetual design language, and 2026 is the Oyster case’s 100-year anniversary. I would be extremely surprised if the watch shown is anything other than an Oyster Perpetual, the definitive entry-level Rolex.

Has Rolex Made a Two-Tone Oyster Perpetual Before?

Rolex made two-tone Rolex Oyster Perpetuals until about 2007, with models like ref. 14203. They currently offer the Oyster Perpetual in stainless steel only, but to me the move to add TT back into the OP lineup doesn’t seem crazy at all.

The Oyster Perpetual is usually one of the last models to get Rolex’s incremental upgrades, so I don’t expect a new movement or anything too crazy. But Rolex does slate dials very well, so I expect this “100 Years” Edition of the Oyster Perpetual to look very nice in person. We’ll keep you updated as we know more!
