The House of Chanteceler is the product of a great friendship between two Italian gentleman; Pietro Capuano and Salvatore Aprea. These two gentlemen were very different; Capuano has been cited as being a bit of dandy and was the heir to a family of Neapolitan jewelers. His friend Aprea was a more reserved man, having gone to university to study law originally; he eventually decided to dedicate his life to the art of fine jewelry making. Fast forward to 1947 and Chantecler was open for business with their first shop in the gorgeous island of Capri. Over the years, the two jewelers gained a loyal following world-wide that could not get enough of their colorful, Italian-island inspired designs. Today, the company is owned and operated by Aprea?s children and has retail stores located in Cortina, Milan, Tokyo and Astana, Kazakhstan.
One of the reasons the brand rose so quickly to fame was because it was founded at the perfect time, in the perfect place. Capri has been a famous resort since the time of the Roman Empire, and Capri became the hottest destination for the glitterati during the 1950?s when starlets including Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor and Grace Kelly just to name a few vacationed on the lovely island and became fans of the brand. For gorgeous Italian jewelry that shines like no other, please look no further than our collection of Chantecler jewelry.
