There are few luxury timepieces in the world that exude the classic character and the beautiful, clean design exhibited by the Officine Panerai Radiomir GMT. This watch's 42 or 45 millimeter case with screw-down crown is available in polished stainless steel and 18k rose gold with an expertly hand-stitched alligator leather strap in black and various shades of brown featuring a large buckle constructed of the same metal as the case. The gorgeously designed, intriguingly shaped, rounded square case houses a black, circular dial featuring luminous stainless steel or rose gold hours, minutes and seconds hands behind a 1.2 millimeter thick anti-reflective sapphire crystal. Large Arabic numerals sit at 12, six and nine o'clock, while a magnified date window is positioned at the traditional three o'clock. Large, clean tick marks represent the hours between the numerals, with smaller marks representing the minutes or seconds in between.
The Radiomir GMT is driven by Officine Panerai's expertly engineered and machined automatic OP XXIV calibre, boasting 31 jewels for extra long life and a 47 hour power reserve. And like many other Officine Panerai wristwatches, the Radiomir's movement is protected by the patented Incabloc anti-shock mechanism. Certain versions of the Radiomir are available with a seconds complication counter in the nine o'clock position, while others feature a very useful alarm function. A long, slender hand that looks very much like the second hand allows the user to accurately set the alarm time. The Radiomir GMT's case back holds a welcome surprise; a sapphire crystal with the same anti-reflective treatment as the crystal on the front allows an unobstructed view into the fabulous movement. Indeed, the Radiomir GMT makes a fantastic addition to the collection of any timepiece connoisseur.
