The IWC Portofino series of fine timepieces is highly sought-after for its classic styling and superb engineering. The perfectly round, slim and smooth case faced with a glare-reducing sapphire crystal houses a dial notable for its unification of simplicity and function. From faces with a simple, unencumbered numberless design to chronographs with two and three complications, to dials showcasing a vintage moonphase complication, to versions with an advanced stopwatch function and split second functions, the IWC Portofino line offers something for every preference indeed. Watch cases in this series are available in a wide range of materials, including stainless steel, yellow, rose and white gold, with brown or black bands of hand-stitched alligator leather or, in some cases, metal bracelets crafted of the same material as the case. Face colors offered include black, white and silver.
Portofino series wristwatches are available in both manual and automatic versions. IWC watches are world-renowned for their tremendous accuracy made possible by in-house designed and manufactured calibres that showcase deeply-rooted engineering prowess. Manual watches in this series boast an immense 8-day power reserve, and many feature a power meter complication for instant insight into when the watch will require another winding. Automatic versions feature 42 to 44-hour power reserves. All watches in the line feature date windows of various designs at the three o'clock position. Several automatic Portofino models include a chronograph and stopwatch complete with a second hand flyback mechanism operated via push-buttons set superiorly and inferiorly to the crown. Unlike many other luxury timepieces, these chronograph dials are so well designed and styled for unobtrusiveness that they almost disappear into the dial until their functions are called upon.
