All Breitling luxury watches are proudly made in Switzerland using 100% Swiss parts and technology. Each watch produced by Breitling SA has undergone and passed the most rigorous quality control standards. For example, all Breitling timepieces have earned the prestigious Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC) certification, a classification held by only 3% of Swiss watches.
Breitling SA’s top-of-the-line brand for aviators, the Breitling Navitimer, is not just for telling the time. Introduced in 1952, the Breitling Navitimer is a multi-functional timepiece made for people who want the highest level of reliability, function, and elegance in a watch.
This watch sports a unique circular slide rule on its bezel that can aid pilots in performing calculations for flight plans. The movement of the watch is mechanically self-winding with an energy reserve of 42 hours. It has three sub-dials for the chronograph which measures elapsed time in hours, minutes and seconds plus a date window between the 4:00 and 5:00 positions.
Enhanced models of the Breitling Navitimer have been introduced in later years. For example, the Cosmonaute model features a 24-hour dial instead of a 12-hour dial. This novel configuration was made with astronauts in mind, since being in space leads to an unusual perception of time of day. Another enhanced model, the Breitling Navitimer World has a 10% larger diameter and a separate hand that displays the time in a different time zone. Time zones of different cities are also engraved on the back casing.
The Breitling Navitimer comes with either a leather strap or stainless steel bracelet, depending on the model. The black or brown leather straps are rugged and sporty, while the stainless steel bracelets are elegant enough to wear with formal attire. A variety of stylish dial colors are also offered, including silver, black, blue, and beige.
