2012 Baselworld & Chanel unveils one of the most eagerly anticipated timepieces - the Premiere Camelia Flying Tourbillon - a Limited Edition of 20 pieces in 18K White Gold & Diamonds and an unique piece of 1 in blood-red natural Mozambique rubies.
This is another brilliant 1st for Chanel - that of the introduction of the beautiful flying Tourbillon to its Premiere line.
The 18K White gold case is magnificently highlighted by 38 baguette-cut diamonds (2.4 ct.) and 52 brilliant-cut diamonds (1.5 ct.).
There are diamonds on the buckle of the deployment leather strap, on the crown, as well as on the hour & minute hands and the Tourbillon.
Notwithstanding all the precious stones, the overall effect is just stunning - it is neither overdone nor distracting to the eye.
This is in part due to the beautiful black ceramic dial that adds a classic and understated effect and automatically highlights the true star of this watch - the Tourbillon with its Camelia flower.
The design of the Camelia flower pays tribute to Coco Chanel whose favorite flower was the Camelia.
The mesh interlocking white gold petals have a diamond center.
Beneath this beauty hides the Tourbillon developed for Chanel by Audemars Piguet & Renaud & Papi.
The Tourbillon has a customized rectangular bottom plate with no upper bridge.
This new development gives the illusion that the Tourbillon is weightless as it moves within the partly hidden cage.
