Harry Winston introduces a unique collection of rare watches dedicated to exploring the function of the Tourbillon. The Histoire De Tourbillon 1 is the first in the Series. This limited edition of 20 timepieces is truly extraordinary in every way. The Histoire de Tourbillon boasts a large 48mm case made of 18K white gold and zalium. Zalium is a zirconium-based alloy prized for its low density, thermal resistance, durability and light weight. It originates from the aerospace industry and is a material exclusive to Harry Winston timepieces.
Technically the Histoire De Tourbillon 1 features two 25 degree inclined single axis tourbillons with rapid 36 second rotations, which work together to neutralize any effects of gravity. Comprised of 88 components, each Tourbillon system weighs a mere 0.46 grams, allowing the cages to perform the rapid 36 second rotations.
To further enhance this dual Tourbillon system, sculptural elements create a hypnotic illusion that the tourbillons are moving towards the sapphire crystal glass. The reflecting light on the bas-relief bridge further enhances the appearance of movement.
Hours and minutes are displayed on the front rotating disk, while the back features additional display of hours, minutes and seconds.
Lastly, this timepiece has a water resistance to 30 meters.
